Yes Sir - it's been making the rounds here over the past couple of months. I watched (and listened) it all over again anyway :D

Sometimes hard to believe (for me anyway), that the XJS can indeed be a complete beast. It's so refined in stock form. Think I need another one to hoon.

BadKat174 10-23-2014 02:02 AM

Whoaaa Sick video. The sound of that XJS is beautiful and so is that course! Only 5700 views??!

Make that 5701 ongoing! my Car handles just like that now I've done the 'Shocks' although I won't be driving her at anything like those Speeds.

Hard to believe She can handle like that in the Wet!

Amazing!

Thanks for Sharing, do you think She has a V8?

Yep, saw some of that footage on the TV coverage a couple of months ago.

<<<@!1!@>>>

hell no, that car is a 1980 with a V12

a taste from 2012 if you wanna hear a tiny bit more

idk why the driver lets the revs get so low in the turns, maybe the car breaks away if he doesn't. All I know is that V12 is made for revving, so it would definitely help his time if he could make it stick. You can tell he has gotten better though, and their placing has gone from 18th in 2012, to 13th in 2013, and finally to placing 3rd this year.

What mod's have you done to make your xjs handle like this? Thanks

ronbros 10-23-2014 06:06 PM

JagZilla showed that video about a couple months back, plus some interesting engine mods ,V12!

never the less awesome vid.

Not very much to be honest!

All I did was to replace the 'Shock Absorber Bushes' which turned out to be missing! as they had never been picked up on numerous MOT's

With a much harder material than the Standard OEM.

Which in a 'Blink' transformed the Car from wallowing all over the road like a 'drunken sailor' to a totally different Car, with virtually no body roll.

As a result, She now goes round Corners, as if She were on rails!

The difference it made was amazing!

Keep em coming Those Vids are awesome! though I did enjoy the first one even more.

ronbros 10-23-2014 06:20 PM

OB its all about the tires when driving in the wet.

pitifulpluto 10-23-2014 06:25 PM

I am speechless.

What an incredible sounding machine!

I have to know more about this car, what engine, camshafts, does it have dual over head???? I must know more!!

LuvmyXJS' 10-23-2014 09:26 PM

I sure love the sound of this car. I was sure when I first heard it that it is a V12. Just has a sound to it that seems like a V12 and not a V8. Would be very surprised if ended up not being a V12.

Just makes me want to go out and find a old V12 coupe and start modifying. Really enjoyed seeing that XJS running around the course and seeing how well it handles.

All I have to say is videos like this can end up costing us some money trying to get to that level of performance. You could see first hand in the second video how the manual really transforms these cars.:icon_steer:

the manual definitely makes a huge difference, it is much cheaper to transform into a rally car, even with the very tight turns a rally car can experience, it has much more time running full out. Running it on a track means transforming it into a genuine sports/racing car, where using it for rally can take better advantage of a car starting out as a GT.

ronbros 10-24-2014 07:57 PM

it sure puts a different opinion of STREET RACING!

it is a V12 ,JagZ had some pix of engine showing the early engine then a much upgraded V12, notice the difference in sound from 2012 vid to the 2014 sound, plus more open road track.

as always gotta love a V12, sure you could have a V8(maybe more powerful) but it wont have the scream of the V12.

car guys love a good sound.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Just as you can't make a race car out of a 4,000 pound coupe. V12 sound is quite pretty though.
I watched some of the XJS videos. The race video with a green coupe being followed by an incompetent driver that finally wrecked them both was painful to watch.

That one has a V12 with loads of custom work done to it...

Since watching that, I want sidepipes exiting behind the front wheels :D

Katoh 10-26-2014 08:53 AM

It is definitely a very nice sounding and moving machine, I really think the biggest change has to be the manual transmission swap, the 3 speed auto GM gearbox was the most woeful piece of backward engineering on these cars. "IMO"
For those interested here are some pics on the car courtesy of Jagzilla on another thread.

I had not seen the second vid till now from inside the car and admit that traction would be a problem from what I saw, he must be running some bigger ponies under that hood then what's expected. Still I am a big believer that you don't really need to do much to these cars to get them to perform like that, as they where de-tuned in the first place.
