Head puller

Hello everyone!
So, I recently pulled the engine and transmission from my 89' XJS. It needed the heads rebuilt. Anyways, I took the engine to a local machine shop (which had my engine for the last month) and they couldn't get the heads off :( . So, I guess that I have to do it myself! The machine shop didn't have a head puller for this particular engine, so I'm guessing that if i make the head puller I should be able to break them free. My question... to save me some time, does anyone maybe have the dimensions of the head puller that they have used? What pullers work best? How thick should the steel plate be? And lastly, if anyone has a sketch or something that would be awesome! thanks in advance everyone!
P.S. my car is a 1989 jaguar XJS coupe with the original V12 still in it.

This was a nice job if you have a good printer that can do 1:1

Download Kirby Palm's "Experience in a book"

I used the "short" version puller recently and it took "FOREVER" to pull it off. The first head I didn't pay good attention to the cam studs and bent one. The second head I had much better success and it only took three hours and two beers.

Take your time and read the manual twice before doing it. Oh! lots of penetrating oil the day before.

The one thing I regret the most is trying to push off of the cap nuts. I dented one up the domes are pretty thin. You will need those nuts intact when putting it back together as it is a sealing part.

I have the full length headpuller that I can rent out if you're interested
