not sure how many of you frequent BAT, but the 1979 transcontinental record breaking xjs was apparently for sale recently, and stirred a lot of discussion on the site.
32H:51M Record Holder: Cannonball Run Winning(?) 1978 Jaguar XJS
if you have a spare 30 minutes its worth the read. from the photos, it's a shame how it's been left to deteriorate.
one of the last comments indicates the car was bought by dennis collins for a fastnloud episode. collins and richard rawlins, from fastnloud on discovery channel, broke the XJS's record with an unverified time under 32hrs. there's plenty of debate over the real records/distances, but that's probably another thread.
i just hope collins and rawlins don't swap the v12 out of that jag, if it can be verified as the H/Y 1979 car. i think that is one xjs that everyone agrees has some historical value in its v12.
