High tension lead routing
Hi all, Im wading through a major engine clean up on a very sad and neglected XJ12 engine Good news is that on lifting the cam cover, inside the engine looks immaculate. The high tension leads seem to be very messy looking more like a plate of spaghetti than engine components Is there a correct routing diagram of the spark plug leads to be as neat and functional as possible. Regards Al |

OEM the wires are mainly very long, because they have to get round the cruise bellows. As I have removed the cruise, I measured up more exactly what would be required, and ordered them up from a UK specialist. Just in case it is useful, attached is the lengths required, and the end-type that goes best.

Here's what I believe should be the proper routing, though there might be some model year variance:

I have mounted a set of Magnecor leads. It still looks quite messy as the wires is crossing over the distributor cap, and the blue leads does nothing to hide this...
My car has the Lucas Digital P as used appr. 1981-1989, so if you have the same you can see my description of the task here: LINK to xj-s.dk https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...33cc6a238f.jpg |
