intake pipe
hey guys
as many of you know im fixing my 88' xjs colling system when i replace the upper thermostat hose i sew that there is a standing water there so i try to blow air in to this pipe but its stuck those anyone know if it should be like this or i need to open this blockege ? |
I'm not sure what you are talking about. Can you post a picture?

There are 2 thermostats and they often fail. First thing... replace them both. When it comes to cooling the XJS most other things are typical, clean radiator, working fan clutch, coolant topped up. Standing water in the upper hose doesn't seem unusual.

I'm not sure what you mean about standing water, but the pipe you show should be clear. Remove it in its entirety and try to flush it out or run a rod through it to remove debris

well.... i tried to clean the pipe (the one next to the themperature sensor but no luck there.
is there any other way to open this blockege ? |

We're talking about the small nipple, seen in this illustration, below item #9 and #10? https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/u...e-lh-5-3-litre As mentioned, it can be removed. It's simply pressed into place and can be wriggled out....usually. (More commonly these nipples pop out on their own...spraying the engine bay with coolant!). After cleaning they can be tapped back into place with a smear of JB Weld or similar to help secure them. On or off the car you can use a small drill to clear the clog....but remove the thermostat so you can collect any debris that falls into the thermostat housing. You don;t want any small chucks of rust floating around in your cooling system. As you probably realize that nipple should have a hose attached. It's part of the vapor-relief plumbing. Cheers DD |

Oh yeah that nipple next to #10 can just be cleared with a drill bit or nail or pick or whatever you have to break apart the calcified junk in it
