Default issue for way too long going nuts!!!

This so sucks, replaced radiator, replaced thermostats, did dougs bleed instructions.

This all started when i noticed the temp guage started running above the N, Sometimes a hair more than just over the N. Never let run much hotter than that.

Replaced thermostats, correctly jiggle pin up top.
Still hot

Replaced radiator, 42,000 mi radiator. Had it flushed out at shop.

i have done dougs bleed technique i know 30 times.

yesterday i thought i had it, needle went above the N, Then dropped
below the N For i know 30 minutes while i had it on ramps.
Fluid coming out of bleed hole, no bubbles. put in plug, Drove it hard for another 30min. FINE

10 minutes later that damn needle starting rising, rising, rising topof the N
Little bit higher, little bit higher. had to shut her down.

so freaking frustrated.

also 95 degrees outside, not sure if this has anything to do with not having hot air when i cut the heat on in the car, for bleeding purposes.

any suggestions? anyone

Have you scanned it to see if it's really overheating? Do you have the extra ground on the instrument cluster? These gauges are known to be "flaky". After fighting similar symptoms mine finally got a quality aftermarket gauge.

the cluster does have the redundant ground on it.

As mentioned, in this thread and several others, the gauges on these cars are flakey and it's a good idea to use a infra-red thermometer to get a rough idea of *actual* temperature.

If "Top of the N" ends up being about 200ºF (as it was on my XJS) that's about as good as it gets with a V12 in 95ºF ambient conditions. So long as it doesn't keep climbing up-up-up with no end in sight, be happy :-)

Not quite sure if I understand what you're saying, but.....

If the heater doesn't work either there's a control issue or there's no hot coolant entering the heater core....and that latter scenario means there's a problem with leeding the system, yes.

With the heat "on", are both hoses to the heater core hot? If so, you're probably OK.

The typical sign that you have an air pocket is the temp gauge cycling up-n-down every minute or so. It doesn't sound like that's happening in your case.

any suggestions? anyone

Fall back and regroup....and consider the possibility that there's nothing left to fix :-)

Cheers
