Leaking

Hi I have a 1994 XJS convertible. found water on passenger and driver side front floor anyone had the same problem or any idea where it’s getting in. All the windows were closed and the top was up and the latches for the top pulls the top nice and tight and all the seals around the window looks good no rips or tear . Any advice will be much appreciated. Also any recom on a best cover thanks

I’ve had the same problem, yes. You can rent or buy a fog machine and run it in the car with everything buttoned up and you will find the leaks very quickly. Mine was the drivers sill seal.

The door seals around the side mirror area are suspect, often you can shim something behind the seal to push it out and force it to seal.

Not sure on the '94, but A/C drain tubes on the earlier cars blocked, and then the evaporator water overflowed the troughs, and the carpet got wet, quite common.

The A/C must drain somewhere, even on the later cars.

Another thing would be the drain tubes under the wiper valence. Mine were completely clogged. I still have a leak in the driver's mirror area of the door, even after fitting new seals drrrrrrr. Also the rear window seal can go and allow water in.

Ok I’ll try all the suggestions But I know it wasn’t the ac it happened after a rain storm. How do u take off the wiper valence. I removed the wiper blades arms and the 2 screws that screws in to the valence but it wouldn’t budge it lifted a bit but that was it I didn’t want it force it and brake something. Thanks

There are 4 screws holding the valance on. Two are under caps if I remember correctly

Thanks. I found 2 of them they are exposed the other 2 I didn’t see. what caps are you referring too

Basically where your wiper arms connect to the shaft. Around the shafts are plastic caps that you kinda have to pry up. The other screws are under them
