Manual gearbox

Might be of interest to someone.
I know nothing about this.

Also a strange flywheel for a manual conversion.

As much for sport as anything else, could I suggest the following: the X300 XJR and its auto box are a sublime pairing , and are not to be surpassed by the manual equivalent?
Even compared with the X308 auto, the X300 is punchier and more brutal. The manual is rather agricultural and unsophisticated by comparison, and simply not worth the effort to replicate. I know that the M5 came as a manual, but is it not as ever a case of the Germans not really getting it?
I shall now retreat to my bunker…

countyjag,

I know that we recognise that we all have differing preferences on engine and gearbox combinations. And you're right that the X300 XJR Auto is a great car (although the X308 XJR that I had was much quicker and more urgent). However, IMO, the X300 XJR with a manual gearbox is a different experience altogether and I found it much more engaging than the autobox. I'm also lucky enough to have driven an XJS that had an X300 XJR engine and manual gearbox transplanted into it. That was my favourite XJS driving experience, even if a V12 with a manual gearbox runs it very close!

Cheers

PAul
