Default New Tires for my 89 XJS convertible

Unable to locate a recent post where someone has found summer tires for stock 15" lattice rims... Mine have been Chromed. Unfortunately, I love the ride my 16" rims give with the Michelin Pilot Exalto 225 55 with an H speed rating. But I fell in love with the chrome on the stock lattice rims.
Would like to stay close to the stock Pirelli 235 60 r15 but have not found a good replacement since Pirelli has (for a while) discontinued production. OK, there are a few around close to $300.00 each by the time tax and mounting are included.
What is recommended by you ???
Thanks

Go to 225/60x15 and you should have more choices.

As for a specific *summer tire* recommendation, I'm not help, sorry

Cheers

I did my car a couple of years back. Tires still had great tread, but were just too durn old to be safe at speed. And, I was given a pristine set of XJS 15" x 7" lattice wheels.

So, I became a realist and put dreams away. I need a touring tire, not a high speed performance tire!!!

Found T rated B.F. Goodrich in 215 x 70 x 15. Good price after rebate. They look great, ride well and handle decently. Although my "lump" is capable of speeds well in excess of the rating, I am not likely do it. 85- 90 MPH max. I;ve not driven in x's of 100 MPH for a couple of decades....

The factory size on my 89 Coupe was 215/70R15, which is about .75" narrower than the 235/60. I read through a few threads and I believe there was a reason why some cars came with 215/70s and some came with 235/60s. I can't recall why right now.

I don't do any spirited driving (strictly a cruiser) and I've been very happy with the Goodyear Comfortred Touring tires that were on my Olds sedan. I got 7 years and 70K out of them. I went with those on the XJS and they have been great thus far. Decent speed rating, good price, good dry and wet traction.

Those are an all-season of course, so if you're looking for a summer performance tire I would look at the Perelli P600s. But, as you found, they are quite expensive. Hence my decision to go with the Goodyears. As Carl mentioned there is also a BFG option but it's just a normal passenger tire as well.

For what it's worth, I really like the look of the lattice wheels. My car had chrome lattice wheels on it as well once upon a time, I still have a couple of them in storage. It's a pretty timeless look on these cars, in my opinion.
