OH shit - coolant leak!!!
 

Here I was thinking life was good, engine temp nice and low after a good coolant bleed and still is... but NO the ******* thing is leaking.
I have decided this car is a HE... makes sense after all it is an HE model... mind the pun. And He is being difficult.

Started He.. up in the shed to test the climate control, idled the car until operating temp, like most the climate control system sort of works (will be in another post) and bugger me if there was not a pool (two) of coolant looking at me.
He desired to squirt fluids all over the floor. Slightly more than 10cc more like a cup. I do not accept this type of behaviour from my teenage boys so I am a little annoyed.

Cant see where it is coming from but is flowing out from the hole in the scoop. Any ideas?
Tomorrow when it cool I will top it up and put it on the ramps.

Not the best pictures but the coolant seemed to flow out the centre hole in the scoop.
I guess its a winter job, radiator out and new hoses. Does not look like the water pump it dry.
I was testing the heat and cold of the air con.... cant see this being related as i have been losing coolant since changing a hose that DOES not leak... top right hose.

If its coming out the front like that, I am looking at the radiator as a MAYBE.

They are a cross flow, double pass thing, and age is against taht core now.

The other is the balance of the hoses, as in, the top of the water pump hose, the 2 X 1" at each end of the filler spout, total MONGRELS to do those 3, so they may be the original hoses, and that coolant will run off all sorts of items before the floor is reached, fact.

The "bung" in the metal header tank that seals the low coolant probe is another leaker.

OR

HE, has just stored all this from the bleed, as that can get messy, and now decided to dump it on you, been there. Chased leaks that dont exist, as it was just coolant FINALLY finding its way to earth.

6 and 4 (one at each end). If you have not changed your hoses, Duke, get in there and change them now. A day or two's hard work will do it, buy a kit from Manners etc, and do it. The cross pipe (above) is miles easier rad out, but in any event you need the belts off if undue pain is to be avoided. Slide the 4s on the crosspipe using a touch of grease or silicone grease, put the 6 on the pump, then offer up the pipe, get 6 connected, then slide the 4s onto the thermostat castings - NOT forgetting the put the clips on beforehand...

A very real possibility, IMO.

There are many nooks, crannies, ledges, slots, and pockets for that coolant to temporarily reside until it finds its way earthward!

The quickest way is to make a home made rad pressurising kit. Basically you just need a cap with an adaptor and a bicycle pump, or you can buy a kit.

But all you need is to install a tyre valve in an old rad cap, having removed the sprung inner bit, and pump the system up a touch. You will be amazed how effective this is, the coolant come out of the faulty hose, but cold of course, and bingo you have the problem. I do not, sadly, think from your pics that this is left over coolant though; I think you have a decent leak.
Your local rad place would maybe loan you an adaptor, or a kit? But the key is, change all the hoses!

Checked the levels this morning - Took off both caps and both were full to the top...and I mean right to the top...
Could the radiator be sucking coolant from the wheel tank to keep it full?

Conspiracy Theory!

Things may not be quite as bad as you were maybe thinking

Whenever we go for a run in 'Cherry' or one of my other XJS's we always do a number of Pre-Flight Checks and when I say always, I really do mean ALWAYS before every Trip

And We even do those Pre-Flight Checks Not Once but Twice, if we go out for another Trip same day

(1) Power Steering Fluid

(2) Engine Oil Level

(3) Make sure We've got the Socket Set and Tool Kit

(4) Roll of Gaffer Tape

(5) Mobile Phone Topped Up and Fully Charged in Case We Break Down

(6) Fire Extinguisher!

(7) Make Sure that the Radiator and the Auxiliary Tank are both Topped up to overflowing before putting both Caps back

(8) Spare Coolant/Brake Fluid Dot4/Spare Oil (just because I'm Paranoid that's all!)

(9) Phone call to Bank Manager to arrange a Second Mortgage in Case we need to fill her up with Petrol though now considering Crowd Funding as another viable option

Then the First Port of Call on a Trip anywhere, will be down to the Garage to fill her up to the brim with Tesco Momentum 99 Octane

And while doing so wait for someone to tell me that my Rad is leaking as there is always a pool of Water forming underneath the Car of about the same quantity as that shown in your Photos

When you Top her right up with Water, its bound to flow out of the Overflow pipe and so this is something that I now consider as being expected and Normal

But and there's always a But! Arn't you forgetting something?

If you remember you had your Car up at an Angle on your New Ramp and so I wouldn't mind betting that this has caused Coolant to come out and then collect somewhere and then when She is level will then appear to be leaking all over the floor!

Have been driving since bleeding the system, twice actually.
My money is on a leak.
Found a secondhand cap and will make a pressure test thing.... Will put it back on the ramps and test once built.

Yep... it was that hose I replaced, top right, I tightened the clamp on top of the raised part where the hose pushes on and the clamp has moved, started to leak bad so that is how I found it.

So pleased it was a simple repair.
