A bad connection on the oil pressure sender or instrument cluster plug.

If you disconnect the oil pressure sender the gauge will go full scale.

Had the engine been running recently? A good one won't leak down oil pressure right away.

gerben 01-06-2018 03:08 PM

engine is running regulary.
does not leak down oil presure.
the gauge reads 5 before engine runs. thenn climbes to 7 on idle..

Does the oil pressure warning light come on at any time?

Greg in France 01-07-2018 01:58 AM

This is an electrical gremlin. Nothing to do with the actual engine.

gerben 01-07-2018 06:04 AM

no light coming on.
oil pressure is fine.. it is the electrics that causes problems.

gerben 01-07-2018 06:08 AM

checking the instrument cluster is a p@&#+ in the b@#$.
the engineer who invented the system with the printed circuit under a layer of plastic, realy did NOT do us a favor.
