Oil sending unit trouble

I have 95 XJS 4.0. The threads in the block are cross threaded and I can’t get the oil sending unit in. Does anyone know the exact thread size tap that I need to fix the threads? I’ve been told it is 1/8 inch pipe thread. But NPT is 27 per inch. British pipe thread is 28 per inch. I’ve tried using a thread gauge and I can’t tell the difference.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XJS forum. If anyone has the answer, members here with the same model will be able to help.

ALL my catalogues, etc show that switch WITH a washer as a seal, so that would be NPT, since BSP is a taper thread and NO washer is used.

I thought I had an old switch in the shed, but thought wrong, found other forgotten stuff though.

Take your sender to the "store", whatever your market calls them, that sells thread taps and dies, and get a thread tap to suit.
