Default Removing fender emblems and door trim

I am about to get the xjs painted and need to remove the fender emblem and door handle. Is this an easy task? I'd hate to just tape it up after all the work I put into sanding it.

My jags got the aids:

You may want to wait on the badge, but from what I know there is no way behind that part of the fender, so it is almost definitely put on with adhesive. In other words, its a sticker, just pry it off gently. Otherwise, see if you can something in the wheel well to access behind the panel. I really doubt it is riveted or screwed on though.

The door handle isn't bad, I haven't taken one off a facelift car, but in the older ones, you remove the door card, put the window all the way up, remove the linkages, and remove 2 nuts holding the door handle in place. It is a little fiddly, and can be aggravating if you don't have small hands, but it would be worth it to get your car properly sprayed.

I thought that the wing badges on US cars are put where Jaguar designed the wing indicator light? In which case, I guess its removed with 2 small nuts accessible from inside the wheelarch behind the splash panel. I might be wrong though! I'm sure it will be described in the Service Manual.

Good luck

Paul

Question now is how do I remove the chrome window trim. Are those rivets?! If so it looks like the windows have to be removed to remove the trim?!

I'm going to answer my own question. To remove the chrome trim on the door at the base of the window. All the windows have to come out, including the rears. The rivets then need to be drilled out and it will beed to be riveted back in when done.

Unfortunately, this is an area where the paint is likely to peel so this has to be done. Anyone pull the windows on an xjs? Should I do motor maintenance of any sort while Im in there.
