Rusty water pipe
Hey there,
I've been cleaning up my engine bay today and removed both rubber pipes which run from the wiper area to the wheels and noticed, that one of the two pipes is really rotted to pieces (holes, basically no metal anymore). Is this a common issue? I've got to remove the ABS system up front (incl. pedals and co) in order to make way for it to be welded... Lucky I found it NOW and not when the engine is in! :icon_ghostie: Anything else I should have welded whilst I am paying someone to do it (engine bay! Other areas will be done later!). Cheers Damien |
This is the drain for the scuttle. These pipes fill with rubbish and get blocked, this would most likely be the cause of the rust.

Daim,
Notwithstanding what the parts diagram shows, my July-94 built convertible has original all-rubber tubes from the plenum drain to the wheelarch. You could perhaps buy some used versions of these pipes to avoid the corrosion issue again. Cheers Paul |

I couldn't think of scuttle... |
When I bought my car the pipes where removed. I replaced them with polished stainless steel boat railing. Really inexpensive and they look good. I got it from a marine store and it's sold by the foot.

Not the pipes in the drain system are rusty but the scuttle drain pipes... These aren't visible...
