anyone recall how to release a stuck passenger chest belt when in the up [locked] position.
iot WILL trasha battery w/its draining when it keeps trying to go back to the down [unlocked ] position. 92 xj6/xj40

 

My seat belts stopped working on my 89 xj6 I contacted Jaguar and there answer was the only part under warranty is the motor which rarely goes, anything else your responsible @ 150 hour plus parts I'll pass.

 

Update!
By now all of those owners who have registered their defective seat belt issue with J. N. A. should have been notified of the availability of warranty replacements. I was notified maybe 12 months ago and asked to contact my dealer for an appointment to have them replaced. If you haven't received a notice to contact your dealer for replacement under the warranty, you may want to do so.

 

for those interested in replacing the automatic belts with standard units , these are currently being sold on ebay and are genuine NOS Jaguar parts

being sold as UK left hand front belts, these would fit all left hand drive cars as a drivers seatbelt, as there is no difference on how the belt works
the receiver is also wired to negate the seatbelt warning light when the clip is inserted

I hate those belts......
On a trip from Miami to Orlando in a rented car l got pulled over for speeding (DAMMMM) on the turnpike, and forgot to unbuckle the stupid lap belt after the shoulder belt nearly took my ear off retracting and just half fell out of the car.
I'm sure l heard the cop laughing.

 

Jaguar will still fix a recall on a 1990 XJS if it has not been done? I did not know this...

 

You might want to call J. N. A. and inquire. My impression iirc is it's a lifetime warranty.

 

Will Jaguar also cover the fuel system and other recalls during the early 90's?

 

Most (not all) recalls never expire. If the fuel recalls were not done on your car then Jaguar is almost certainly still obligated to perform them. But....if the parts are no longer in production you might run into difficulties. For several years the parts for the seatbelt recalls and warranty repairs were not available.
