Oh man, don't get me going with this...
It seems to me that everybody's keeping a low, quiet profile about this subject, but this is my take: the automobile world will soon be shaken by the arrival of the elctric power plant when the battery technology emulates a tank of gas.

1. Car dealers' showrooms with most only electric cars and one petrol or diesel car in the corner.
2. Substantially lessened car repair business with just a fraction of moving parts. This includes the car parts business.
3. Electric cars totally dominating the drag strip with down to 4.0 sec passes. Ditto for Indy and F1.
4. Most oil producing countries become third world economies and quite a lot of oil will remain under ground forever. If they are smart, they should soon start to get rid of as much oil as possible and before is too late!

There are many more implications, but I'm falling asleep right now.
That battery discovery will shake the heck out of the car and oil world and it can actually happen anytime, really.

talking with the local mustang guy, we both question the Dana 44 rear end and axle strength?
but only time will tell, he is still sorting minor changes, body twist/flex, he did make a new complete tubular under frame on his car ,front to rear,and welded into the roll bar system.

an unusual thing about these electric cars, they dont slow down much when you let off the accerator pedal, on a down hill run they can actually pick up speed!

that accounts for the massive brakes on the properly done cars! the Mustang,15" rotors all around, 6 piston calips.

i suppose you could reverse current on DC cars(bet that could get tricky).

Not all electric cars have regenerative braking. Those that do can be programmed to slow down like a conventional car.

just returned from the local tire shop, and while there, the electric mustang guy was there,changing rear tires!

asked whats up, he is going to the drag race track today, and see if he can lower his 0-60 runs!
his best yet recorded and certified 2.43 seconds, 0-60.
he is hoping to lower it to a 1.99 seconds 0-60, with new super grip soft tires.
they have to be hyway/ road approved, not a simple full drag slick, he said that would do it, but dangerous on road use, they get all flippy/floppy and weird driving around
corners.

he probably settle for couple tenths lower tho.
