Well... half electric works.
USA '91 v12 convertible. It starts and runs perfect, but the entire electrical system just turned off.... everything (and I mean everything) except for the guages and engine, ehich still run fine. No windows, lights, wipers, air, radio, or even antenna. Power brakes are gone too (ABS car without traditional vacuum thingamajig).
Any ideas where to start? If it's simple, like a fuse, great. It this requires textbooks, science experiments, and dead cat-waiving voodoo, I 'll have to hire it out.

For this kind of electrical loss, I'd suggest to place the car's electrical circuit diagram in front of you and study the overall power distribution/feed routes, keeping those "dark" items in mind. Just go slowly paying attention to what feeds what and at one point it'll be obvious. Good luck.
Cheers,

My first suspect would be the ignition switch. IIRC the fuel and ignition ECU's are fed from a different wire on the switch from all other electronics.
If you do not have a Jaguar ROM you will need one if you plan on doing work on your car.
Just had a look at the electrical diagram and the ECU's and instruments are fed from from the same wire and all other electronics are from a different wire on the ignition switch so this would be the prime suspect.

sportingheart,
I had a similar issue on my 1992 XJS with several of the electrics going out, although not exactly the same as are malfunctioning on your car. See the thread here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-start-161211/
The 92 electrics may be different than the 1991 but perhaps similar enough that it's the the same issue I had. It was the auxiliary ignition load relay. On my car it's located on the passenger side, below the glovebox, visible after removing the panel under the glove box. I replaced the relay with a Bosch 332019151 relay off of Amazon and had no problems after that.
If the problem isn't the same, then see if you can find a copy of the 1991 XJS electrical guide or diagram and look for a relay sharing all of those electric items.
Good luck.
