decided to do away with the red engine plaques that sit on top of the inlet manifolds, they were six litre ones after all
but instead of buying new plaques I used repair stickers that are now available at a fraction of the price, excellent product

From what they have in stock you must have chosen 235/60R15 ?
I would really like to stay on 70-profile, ie 215/70R15 or 205/70R15. They suits my car better in my opinion.

Her Ladyship's paint on the roof (which was clouding over in parts) and boot (in particular) was showing signs of badly ageing, so I got the roof and boot resprayed. Boot not quite dark enough, but not really that obvious most of the time as it's visually isolated from the rest. Then I got her expensively "glass coated" at a professional shop (as I did for the paint as well, obviously). Now she gleams like new, more or less. The main thing was to protect the new paint and the remaining original paint--in fact, the paint shop said the roof had been resprayed once before already. Cost a couple of thousand US$-equivalent, but will hopefully protect her for a few years.

You can get the correct Pirellis in 15 inch from the UK, Longstone tyres. But they are cripplingly expensive, as this shows:

For anyone of more limited means and who uses an XJS regularly, a set of OEM 16 inch five spokes off ebay, gives access a far more inexpensive range of the correct speed-rated tyres, at around 80 UKP a tyre. eg

I don’t like the 5-spoke or other OEM 16”, at least not on my PreHE. I actually have a set of 16” Aero on my XJ40, which I could mount, but they look plain wrong.
If I decide to spend not-so-much I would put some 235/60R15 on my current wheels, but I do not find the Longstone prices THAT prohibitive. They will most likely last for 8-10 years (= appr 30.000 km’ish)

There is no doubt in my mind that the XJS rides best on 15 inch Pirellis. If the price is Ok with you, then go for it, say I !

Not today, but this weekend I got it registered and insured. Then took it on a test drive and long story short, bought front calipers, brake hoses, front pad set, accumulator ball, brake fluid, and rear subframe mounts! Drrrrrrrr

With thanks to Simply Performance's Ben, I got my new TH400 case delivered today. Rebuild can now properly start!

I did the parking brake delete mod for the actuation of the convertible top! Happy with the results! Also removed my driver's side sun visor so I can see farther down the road better without ducking to see past the hood lol

I took the disc off the windshield and installed a homelink rearview mirror with a rearview camera input. Pulled off the chrome sideview mirrors and put on olds aurora mirrors, painted.
Look more modern. Swapped all lamps to LED's. Didnt do the headlights.. yet. Got two key fobs working and flocked the armrest box. Added a valet switch. Put in an adjustable electronic signal flasher, works great.
Next, clean up the interior...

I was fed up with the whoosh when I remover the fuel cap and the palaver when filling up so I did away with the Rochester valve and connections and fitted a direct hose from the canister to the breather pipe with a pressure release valve in the centre of the hose, now the whoosh is so much less relieving the strain on the fuel tank with only 0.05 bar max straining the tank and no on/off at the pump. brilliant kit from either amazon or eBay,

I used the wrong o ring on the dryer, they are .375 and I had to order them from SNG Barrett.

Now I have cold AC again. I also adjusted the throttle cable. If you have not adjusted your throttle cable in a while, do it! It's like I have a new car.
