Wheels (rims) needed (please)

I'm just taking delivery of my 1993 XJS 4.0 Coupe. These coupes are kind of rare in the USA as, by 1993, most 4.0 XJSs were being sold as convertibles. Although this example has lots of miles, it is a one owner and well maintained (I hope).
Shamefully, the PO was persuaded apparently by a younger family member to swap the original Jaguar wheel rims for these atrocious "boy racer" versions. Unfortunately, the original wheel rims were misplaced.I'm now trying to source a replacement set which I believe are known as 15" lattice. I'd love however to get my hands on "pepperpot" models however these seem rare in the US. Either way, these chrome circa 1990 wheel rims have to go. Any suggestions where I might get my hands on a set would be gratefully appreciated.

The pepperpot, or more correctly called Ogle Perforated, were never sold on USA market cars. They were a standard fit for a number of Series III sedans in Canada. For the others, perhaps try Coventry West in Atlanta, Motorcars in Houston, or Jaguar Heaven in Stockden California.

The lattice wheels came in both 15" and 16" versions, 16" might be easier to get tires for now.

Or, take a drive to beautiful Vancouver Island, come for the Jaguars on the Island show July 26-28 in Victoria BC, and pick up a set of pepperpot wheels: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Jaguar-Wheel...Zcxglp&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the clarification

Now I understand why I saw very few if any, "Ogle Perforated" wheels in the US. I'd love to justify a leisurely drive from Texas up to your beautiful city, bag a set of those Ogles, have them fitted with new Pirellis and motor on back to Austin.
Fortunately, as this would be a stretch for the aging XJS, my stamina and, despite the advantageous exchange rate, a nasty hit to my wallet, sanity prevails.
I will, however, chase down the other potential sources you mention. By the way, can I assume that 16" lattice wheels will fit the existing 15" 5 bolt XJS configuration?
Many thanks for your reply and advice.

Yes, the 15" and 16" wheels are fully interchangeable.

I did Calgary Alberta to Palo Alto California in 2 days once, in a 1992 Series III V12 sedan. Not sure I'd want to do that again, as 1,000 miles in a day was a bit much!

In an attempt to be helpful, and fully admitting I am no expert:

I currently have 15 inch lattice. Tires, however, are difficult, expensive, but not impossible.

I would like 16 inch lattice, because tires are easier and cheaper.

In my search for this, I can promise you that you will find many 15 inch versions. They are not expensive, but I do not know your budget.

eBay searches should help you, if you're willing to stick with the 15s, which I am guessing you are, based on your preference for pepperpots. If you really wanted to go crazy, I believe KWE will sell you brand new, 16 inch or 17 inch pepperpots. They will fit your needs, but will cost more than a flight to Victoria.

I really dislike aftermarket wheels. Specially on an older car. That being said, these are not the
most egregious I have seen, but I would certainly change them if this car was mine.

There are plenty /no shortage of facelift XJS wheels available on eBay. You should have no problem getting a set. Did you ask the seller about the original wheels?

EDIT: make sure you put those chrome rims up for sale! They may be able to pay for your new fully refurbished OEM rims

Thanks for the size update. Based on tire size and cost, seems like 16" wheels are the way to go. I assume the epic drive to Palo Alto is not available on YouTube as 2 days, 1000 miles in a V12 engined Jaguar deserves to be shared if for no other reason than to discourage similar long-distance adventurers like myself!

ChrisTX 07-13-2019 10:03 AM

Edelweiss..thanks for your observations. Right now, my thinking is to replace the current wheels with 16" lattice or disc. Pepperpots are indeed desirable but outside of my budget as the immediate need is to get the aircon up to Texas summer standards1

ChrisTX 07-13-2019 10:09 AM

Spikepaga..thanks for improving my esteem for the lowly racer wheels as I agree I have seen some truly outrageous examples, some of which are right off Roman chariots!
Unfortunately, the seller has passed on and her relatives have no idea of the whereabouts of the original wheels. I guess I might even find them on eBay. And I do plan to post those chrome bits of jewelry on CraigsList. Who knows they may already be collector's items?

No, I didn't film anything. 1000 miles was the second day, I did 500 the first day.

I have 2 of the 15” lattice rims up for sale. I damaged the other 2 in an accident, and have replaced mine with 17” Alessandra rims. They are in Baltimore. Excellent condition with 50k miles on them.

ChrisTX 07-15-2019 10:45 AM

Scott..thanks for your reply. Having done further research I'm going to move to 16" wheels as this XJS Coupe is my daily driver and less expensive 16" tires are the way to go. I might change my mind in which case I'll get back to you.

Not all aftermarket are bad. These are Boyds on my 94. I like them.

ChrisTX 07-18-2019 09:33 AM

Sold! Great..exactly what need. Can you please PM me (if you think PM is necessary?) with your price and what sort of shipping costs might be incurred to get the 4 to Austin Texas from your location. Much appreciated and many thanks

ChrisTX 07-18-2019 09:36 AM

I agree that your rims are much more in keeping with the set on my car which are right off a Saturday Night cruiser. Seems I may have found a replacement set (see above). What would be the best way to sell my "racing rime" do you think?

ChrisTX 07-18-2019 01:26 PM

Just wanted to make sure you got my enthusiastic reply on the purchase of your wheels and tires. Looking forward to hearing from you.
