Why does my dash have a peep hole?
I don't know why I never noticed it before but today I found this peep hole on my dash just above the glove box door.
(The picture is upside down. The hole is above the glove box)
What is this for? Is there supposed to be a light bulb or something in there?

Right!
A few inches downstream of the hole is the cabin temp sensor which is connected to a long tube....which terminates at one of the heating/air con ducts. Air flowing thru the ducts creates a low pressure area so that air is drawn thru the hole, across the sensor, and down thru the tube.

That's a little weird.
The airflow thru tube occurs whenever the blowers are on. The sensor is reading the temp at all times.....not at timed intervals.
I'm not sure what you are hearing but I don't think it has anything to do with the cabin temp sensor
