235/55R17 have a slightly large diameter compared to stock.
235/50R17 or 225/55R17 would be a safer choice regarding the size, but I'm only talking theory here as I have never tried anything larger than 215/70R15 on mine. I bet other will have more experience.
The wheel must of course fit the hub (5 x 120,6 bolt circle and a centre bore, which I don't know), and the ET must fit the car. Let us know what the ET is.
