Need to install 1984 Jaguar XJS front windshield. The gaskets ordered are all too big. How do I install?

 

Believe or not, they are not too big, you have to install them around the openeing on the car first, then place the windshield in, if you have a manual there is info on it in the body section

 

The one I bought was too long by a few inches. I ended up cutting and joining it at the top.

When you put the window in DO NOT use mastic, or it WILL leak again, use polyurethane window sealant, like they use for bonded screens.

I used mastic in the front and side windows and PU in the rear, the front and side 1/4 leaked, the rear has never let a drop of water through. I pulled the side 1/4 windows out and re-sealed installed them with PU sealant and they have never leaked again.

 

Is swapping the front screen seal a job you could do yourself or best left to a pro?
