XJS Battery Strap
1 Attachment(s)
Greetings,
i just removed this strap from the top of the battery clamp frame in the boot. Its has just been hanging there for a while and i am curious what it is actually there for...? attached photo Thanks Darren |
I don't have any straps on my battery. It looks like a strap you attach to the battery posts to lift it out, but It is not Jaguar. Maybe a shop tool.

It is original Jaguar and part of the battery hold-down assembly;

He,he!!!
Very Jaguar!!! The most complex battery hold down, I've ever seen!!! Use for the strap? Lift the battery. From the days before batteries came with lifting straps? Carl |
Its used to hold down the battery vent assembly.
Very early batteries had a separate part that sat on top of the battery. you can see it in the illustration. Later batteries had a different less complex vent system. |
