Default Air Con recommendations

Hi all, My air conditioning is not cool! I took it in to In 'n' Out in Stockton and they re-gassed it. It was really good, ice cold, for a day or two but did not last long.
I'm guessing that, as it got so cool after re-gassing, that all is OK except for the gas leaking. Took it back but they said they only do a simple leak test, which seemed OK, but I need to take it somewhere with higher spec testing gear. They did offer to re-gas it after the leak was fixed. My question is, does anyone have any recommendations where I should take my hot cat to get it sorted? I saw Jagtech recommended on a different page and wondered if this is the place to go. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Forgot to mention. I connected up to an iCarsoft OBD tool and am getting a code B1B78. I think this is low system pressure. The system pressure is reading 37.5 kPa which i think is about 5.5 psi.

It seems from your experience that it most certainly is a gas leak since your AC ran cold after you recharged it, very simple fix for any AC specialist.

around here we add a dye to the refrigerant, then after running the system for a little while, hunt around the engine bay with a UV light. dunno what they would mean by "higher spec" testing equipment.

Ha ha yeah I see what you mean. Some might regard that as high tech.

So took car to Jagtech, they, as previous comment, filled with dye and found with UV light. Condenser leaking. New one fitted (£750), now ultra cool. Thanks for responses.

Amazing, isn't it, the difference a new condenser makes?

Mark,

I must have missed this thread when you first posted but would have recommended Jagtech Ltd in Stockton-on-Tees. Best independent in your area.

Graham
