2007 Jag XK P1368 & P1367 Won't Start
 

I have a 2007 Xk with 43K mileage. I changed the battery about one month ago. Everything has been fine. Saturday I drove to a wedding and afterwards it would not start. The dash displays Engine System Fault. I got it home and pulled the codes and I had three. P1368, P1367, and U0151. I have had my air bag light on for some time which is what I believe code U0151 is telling me. Be the new codes are P1367&68. Does this mean my ECU is bad. Any help would be appreciated or direct me to a previous post. I have search and not found a lot of info. Thanks

Check the battery voltage....should be >12.2v (engine off after sitting for 10 mins). The electrical system will not charge a new battery, it has to be charged with a charger first. Once fully charged, and if not driven regularly, it is advisable to keep it topped off with a maintainer such as a CTEK 4.3. There are many threads on the subject that explain why.

Last suspect of all is the "ECU".

A good battery would be 12.6 so yours is near dead. Still may not be it but it's a big suspect.

Otherwise go back to basics for a petrol engine...

A "Hard Reset" sometimes sorts out gremlins. It's free and easy.
The 'easiest' way is to disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery and hold it to the positive cable for a few seconds. Then reinstall the cable.

OK this is a different problem then what everyone is thinking. You say the engine turns over meaning the starter and battery are working but the engine won't fire up. Do you have a check engine light. Can you check to see what codes you have at the OBDII port.

Before swapping out parts, remove the battery from the vehicle and charge it overnight. After charging, it should have a minimum of 12.6 volts across the terminals for the vehicle to function correctly.

I'm going with removing the battery cables and charge the danged thing overnight. Exactly what NBcCat suggests (for good reason)

While he's got the cables off , just touch them together for 5 or 10 seconds as a reset.

Yeah, that may be the next step. Since BOTH banks are involved, it would appear that the commonality would be the ECM.

I haven't done anything on it yet as I have a crap-ton of other stuff going on.

I find it frustrating when someone comes to the forum for help with a problem, potential solutions are offered, and then nothing... I figure the OP's car hasn't sat for 2 years, unable to start. If I am right, then the problem has been fixed. It would be great to know how it was resolved, in case others have similar problems. Also it's a courtesy to those who have invested their time and energy in proposing various solutions. Just sayin'...

Could be. Even so, just as a matter of courtesy, it would have been nice to have seen a sixth post saying "here's how we fixed it. . . " If someone has time to post five times asking a question, it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect a couple of minutes spent posting the solution. Shame indeed.
