Default 2007 Jaguar XK convertible broken antenna

Got home last week. My rear antenna was hanging off the car by only the mast and cable. The cable was detached from the power unit and there was no bezel or aerial sealing grommet. I ordered a new power unit JLM21920. The mechanic said i needed the sealing grommet or "cap" I think the part number is C2P11987XXX. I cannot find this part anywhere as it is discontinued. Any ideas on how to fix this problem if I can find the sealing grommet? I called welsh Jag and they dont have the part. I also contacted Jaguar Heaven in Calif. but havent heard back yet.

When you say cable, do you mean the cogged nylon/plastic leader that is used to raise and lower the mast? If so, you might only need to replace the mast, not the whole power unit.
You could also try Pacific Motors in Michigan for the missing parts.

After Ford bought Jaguar in 1999, it replaced virtually all of the Lucas electrical components with Ford components. For example, the glow-in-the-dark plastic emergency trunk release handle in my 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible was made by Ford. I replaced it after it broke.

I suspect that the radio antenna and related parts came from Ford. Search Ebay for radio antennas used in Ford vehicles from 1997 - 2007. There may be several different designs, so compare the photos to what was on your car.

If you can't find the exact part, maybe this will work.
31" Black Stainless Antenna Power Mast AM/FM for FORD RANGER 1983-2011

Good luck!

In all these years I have never had an issue with the antennae…. begs the question, what happened?

That doesn’t appear to be a retractable antenna. There’s a thread here somewhere, that lists a replacement part, and I recall buying one, just to have in case mine broke (kept in a box of spare parts in the basement).
Think there is also a thread that lists places to check for replacement parts both new and used. Just recalled that there’s a place in Texas called NOMA, that has been recently placing parts on eBay.

As temperamental as the electronics in our cars can be, the Lucas components are what really created the bad reputation for British cars in the 70's and 80's. As the saying went: “Lucas vacuum cleaners—the only Lucas product that doesn’t suck.”
