Ford did not and does not engineer/design the Jaguar engines. The current V6 and all V8 engines from the 4.0 litre to the current 5 litre were entirely designed by Jaguar BUT they were built under contract at the Ford engine plant at Bridgend.

yes, and that is because Ford copied parts of the Jaguar design - because the engines were built for Jaguar in the Ford plant, there was, shall we say, a bit of an information leak.

To get back on track, mine just had the front lower crank case seal replaced at the dealer under warranty, they had my car for three days and replaced a cracked air intake upper tube, all new coolant and the seal, total warranty job was 900 bucks ( rip off) but hey under warranty I don’t care.

Last winter I had an oil leak, which was dripping off the rear of the transmission pan, due to the slight angle the car sits in the garage. Had the car been totally level, it would have dripped off the rear of the block.
Source of the leak was the valve cover gasket, however as I was disassembling to replace the gasket, I found that the lower bolt, closest to the firewall, that holds down the valve cover, was totally loose. Surprised it didn’t fall out.
That bolt is a bitch to get to, so some previous idiot that removed and replaced the cover, didn’t tighten that one down (if yours turns out to be the same, maybe it was a factory mistake).
Since I was that far into the gasket replacement, I did that, rather than simply tightening that bolt.

Absolutely, nothing special or unique under there. And you can get the parts online for a better price.

No "conspiracy" was being suggested by me...the fact is that the engines were designed by Jaguar but built in the Ford engine plant at Bridgend (as I wrote above). And those who prefer to believe that Ford designed the engines should check the authoritative history of the V8 engine project (authoritative because the history is given by those who actually designed the engine and supervised the project; I do not have access to my bookshelf at the moment but when I do I will give the references). And of course it is normal and natural that Ford would use some of the Jaguar-designed elements: not only did they own Jaguar but their plant was/is producing the Jaguar engines in a dedicated facility.
