Sounds like you are going to have a great ride home. Congratulations! While you are at the dealer check and see if they did warranty on the air conditioner drain. The 08s have a issue with water draining into the passenger footwell. There is a complete thread on this issue. Other than that you will love the awesome feel and sound to this car.

P.S. BTW I did have Carchex do an inspection on this car since I'm so far away and could not go for a test drive. Do you think they would have noted something like this if it were still a problem? They did not.

Production Numbers
BTW, does anyone have authoritative numbers on 08 Portfolio production? I had seen the 255 number someone mentioned at the beginning of the thread (don't remember where, maybe a R&T review??) but then someone else mentioned a number in the one hundreds...??? I'm curious to know how many other cars like mine are driving around (Portfolio coupe with aluminum dash. Were there other options besides coupe or convertible and dash finish??)

Drain issue
"Hi Bill, I thought that was only on the 2007 models but will check the service bulletin tomorrow to make sure. I know the bulletin was VIN specific so this car might not have been involved.
Will touch base tomorrow..."
Thoughts anyone??

Add me!
Add me in to the register as a 2008 Portfolio owner.
Mine's a convertible with a black interior. Norman Dewis signed the dashboard (last weekend).
I've tweaked it a little:
So far, I've fitted a Quaife LSD, JagWrangler (whiteXKR)'s convertible top unit, and removed fuse 19.
I am seriously considering fitting Avos's twin-screw upgrade kit if/when he releases it, however even though he and others are saying the stock tranny (6HP26) should be OK, I'm still a bit worried about putting maybe well over 600hp into a tranny with a max. rating of 450HP, so am currently researching the viability of fitting a ZF 6HP28. Apparently mechanically its plug-and-play but software will be a bitch.
Any solid technical info about this and/or how to get around it would be very much appreciated.
Neil.

Good News!
"Good morning! I had service check and this car was involved in the bulletin and the work was done at my Metairie location in May of 2010 with 15,800 miles on the car."
Now to see if they did the 40K service. ;-). I did add mine to the poll. I'm flying to Baton Rouge Saturday to drive it back. I'll post more info/pics then.

"Hi Bill, when we performed the used car inspection we did the 40K servi e. An oil and filter change was done, we replaced the air filter, pollen filter, changed wiper blades, front and rear brakes."
No used car dealer is going to do that. I think that maybe they put new tires on it too, although she didn't say that, because I had Carchex do an inspection on the car since I'm too far to just go look at it and on the tire section they stated "no wear" on any of the tires.
I feel like I'm stealing this car. I'm almost embarrassed to say how much it was but I'm giving them full asking price. Did not even haggle. Wish I had some kind of warranty but it is up being the car is 6 years old. I hope it looks as good in person as in the pics but I bet it's even better. I feel like a kid at Xmas!

Alcon brakes squeaky?
Has anyone else experienced brake squeakiness with the Portfolio's Alcon brakes?
I nearly always get loud brake squeal when gently braking to stop from very low speed. I have had the rotors checked and machined and also replaced the pads more than once, all with no improvement. I managed to minimize it somewhat by using special compound pads (apparently no-one makes ceramic pads for our brakes but I managed to find some with a wierd mix of carbon or something). It did help a little but it is still sometimes loud enough to draw attention when I pull up to a red light, mostly because it sounds like something is clearly not right.
I've heard from both the dealer and a Jag Specialist that "big" brakes just tend to squeak and its pretty much unresolveable, so I should just accept/ignore it, however it seems unlikely to me that Jag would knowingly release a car that does this.
I've owned and driven lots of other Jags and never encountered it otherwise. The 5.0 XKRS I drove at a Jag "Drive Alive" event 2 or 3 years ago didn't do it either, and I'm guessing that especially being an S it would have almost certainly had 6 pot brakes, more than likely exactly the same Alcons.
Do you guys get it too or is it just my car?
Neil.
