Default 2009 XK60 Park Brake Not Available

EPB not available message on dash. Been in garage for 2weeks now and everything seems to be working electrically, no cables broken, motor working etc. Just cannot get rid of the message. Wondering if the module is faulty but cannot find a replacement module online with the same code 6W83-2C496-AE. Are there compatible modules available? Any ideas for a solution much appreciated

You've not said if 'garage' is a jaguar dealer or specialist and if you've tried the main dealer?

Sometimes when there are no used spares you have to get one from jaguar

Interestingly the part you've listed comes up as the abs control module, is it a combined module?

Hi Thanks for your reply
Sorry yes it is not a Jag/specialist garage it is one that i use for MOT servicing etc. I haven't tried the main dealer yet

Not sure if it is a combined module. This is the number the garage gave me over the phone for the unit. If i google the number it comes up with a match on a website with photos that match and description. Perhaps its a job for the Jag specialist ? I`m at a loss what to do next.

I just checked with the main dealer and they can get the part. They confirmed the number is the EPB module. Its a gamble at £400 but cannot see what else it could be that is causing the fault. Had no other issues with the car in 12 months that i have owned it.

And then reset the park brake:

If the battery has been discharged or
disconnected a message APPLY FOOT
AND PARKBRAKE
will be displayed
when the ignition is next switched on.
Depress the footbrake and pull the
parkbrake switch up to apply the
parkbrake. This is required to reset the
parkbrake system. The parkbrake will
now function correctly.

If your air conditioning stopped blowing cold air, would you rush out and buy a new compressor without first having the system diagnosed by a qualified technician? It could be as simple a fix as a refrigerant leak. So why are you so eager to buy that expensive part without any assurance that it will fix your problem, particularly since it hasn't been diagnosed by a Jaguar dealer or independent Jaguar specialist? A shot in the dark may be a shot in the foot. At least try the reset recommended by IanXF and kj07XK. There's nothing to lose and it might clear the error message.

Your car, your money, your choice.

When I got that message it coincided with my fuel gauge reading empty, once as I drove away after filling up! That was diagnosed as a "wiring fault" that required dropping the back axle to gain access - a 6 hour job! Managed to persuade the dealer I'd bought the car from that it was either covered by warranty or sale of goods act and got it fixed at no cost to me.
