2014 xk auto fold mirrors

I just purchased the above after selling my SL 500. So far I'm pleased with the Jag however I'm having trouble setting the auto fold mirror function.
I've turned the auto fold function "on" in the vehicle settings, security section but it does not seem to work when I turn the engine off or on.
I read about the possible reset procedure by pressing both mirror buttons at the same time. Indeed, both mirrors fold and unfold. However, after recycling the security switch from on to off back to on, then restarting the engine, I still do not have an auto fold process. What am I missing?
Is there a necessary series of events to reset the auto fold feature?
Ive used similar forums for my SL and also my Alfa Romeo. I look forward to being an active member.

Ah huh...I just answered my own question.
FYI......the auto fold feature is activated when the doors are locked or unlock, NOT when the engine is turned off or on.....cut me some slack, I just bought the car today. Blame it on a learning curve from Mercedes to Jaguar !!!

Welcome and enjoy. Oh don't forget to lock it every time you get out.

Actually, the manuals all say to DOUBLE-lock it when parked. I don't know if it does anything other than sound the alarm chirp once, but I do it every time.

RTFM!

Welcome Bryan. Enjoy your new ride. These cars are very reliable. How about some pics please.

I find the easiest way to fold the mirrors is to hit the lock button on either the remote or the door once and then you're done.

Pretty sure this was discussed a while back and the concensus was that USA spec (maybe all of North America, I don't remember) cars do not use double lock. A single press of the lock is all that is needed. There is nothing extra accomplished by double locking.

Well, I do it and it does something. Don't know WHAT exactly, beyond a CHIRP. The chirp satisfies me, and since there IS a reaction on the double-lock I will continue to do it. Gotta be a reason for it somewhere or it wouldn't happen.

"RTFM".... now that's an interesting comment from "White Bear".
Not the sort of greeting I was expecting from this forum of "classy" Jaguar owners.
As a new member, I'll assume you were just having a bad day.
Thanks for the rather unique WELCOME.

I'm pretty sure it was meant in jest. A good ribbing is what Jaguar owners ARE about.

Yeah, "White Bear" is one of a bunch of good guys on here, and he did end it in a "lol". Since you're new here, spend some time reading the various topic threads, and you'll not only learn alot about your car, but the personalities here as well.
Oh yeah, and welcome!

Welcome, Bryan, from a fellow 2014 XKR owner! Fantastic car.
