A Vansquish S is another league; not fair. Would be my choice too. Even DB9 GTfor that matter. Both are great buys in today's market.

i don't have AM money to spend. of course the smart thing to do is buy a slightly used CPO of anything that's a couple of years old. the consequence of that though is that you're closer to owning outside of warranty. i think that's why the LC500 might be more prudent than an XKR, not that anything relating to buying a car like this is "prudent". I'd never buy the first year of any car though, so that means waiting for a lightly used 2019 LC500 in 2020 or 2021. not sure i'm strong enough to wait that long. the LC500 has it's flaws, but i like it a lot. it does NOT inspire the lust that the XKR or FType do though... first world problems.

Great point that proves how good the engineering on the XK is.
There is ZERO difference between buying a 2007 XK and a 2008, or 2009.
Which cannot be said about most cars.

As a bonus, if you had the first year the XK came out, it was the cat's meow. It turned more heads than any other affordable car.

LC500 is near 100K new. DB9 GT can get near new for just under 100K, Vanquish S nearly new for just above 100K. Never had a real mechanical issue on either of my Aston's (or XK for that matter). Sure there is little stuff, but it's pretty much just scheduled service. Aston's can get a warranty trough Aston Martin for cars up to I think 10 years old. Same as factory warranty. As nice as the LC500 and XKR are; they'll never be an Aston Martin (for better or worse).

Actually, there are differences.

The "Sex" ad campaign was terrific for the initial release of the car. Jaguar's ads since then have been hit or miss.
