Just curious guys, would this be doable to an S-Type R as well? Looking for a cheaper alternative instead of going the Quaife route. Ideally would want to find a ford LSD that’s guaranteed fit but if I can find an F-Type diff on eBay it would be ideal. And you’ll be lucky to find an f-type diff for less then quaife |

well, I’m not sure. Subframes are different most likely. And you’ll be lucky to find an f-type diff for less then quaife |

S-Type R is 2.87:1
F-Type V6S, and XK is 3.31:1 You can't put a 3.31:1 in an S-Type R the difference in ratio is too great, will throw up codes and limp mode. There's no Ford diff with LSD that's a straight swap. Your choices for the STR are Quaife or mini-spool, or CIG-Locker Attachment 215750 |
The actual LSD part does not involve gear swapping which I already know the transmission will throw a fit if it gets messed with.

But there is no Ford LSD that fits inside the 8" diff housing. We tried them all.

I thought the ratio in the S-Type R could be reprogrammed now

Yet to take it back down the track but the difference is very very noticeable |
25k miles, no issues whatsoever
And I kick the butt every time I drive it. Powersliding every corner. Doughnuts every now and then.

Elviukai, no issues so far, 5k miles. As I stated, it's a straight bolt on. Nice add-on not only for spirited or track driving but also a must have for Moscow winter driving. Some more observations: the diff doesn't limit slip when in rear gear; nice 11s in any steering angle conditions, just floor it. Can do donuts for hours, I doubt E-diff would withstand that (I did that in icy and cold winter conditions only so that the load was minimal. Would not suggest abuse the mechanical diff in grippy conditions as there would be no indication for overheating)
Regards Planning to do the same thing, so just want to be sure. |

Do I understand correctly - F-type V6S RWD diff fits with no adjustments to XK 5.0 NA?

Planning to do the same thing, so just want to be sure. I’ve since sold the car with some 120+ thousand km on the clock and the F-Type diff was going strong and with no issues. |

Correct. No adjustments whatsoever, Rula. The only caveat is one needs to unbolt the rear reinforcement cross brace front bolts in order to be able to slide the F-Type unit into place. And those bolts are attached to hidden hard to reach studs that tend to fail. There is a thread somewhere on the alu XJ X350 forum on how to deal with that matter.
