Adjustable coilovers installed, finally!
After several years of trying to get adjustable custom coilovers made, I am happy to report that I finally found a company that was VERY open to the idea of making coilovers for our cars - BC Racing in Orlando, FL. They have offered entry level BR series coilovers for the XJ, XF and XK but I was looking for something better than that and with adjustments for the track. I reached out to them and immediately they showed an interest in offering a greater range of coilover options for the X150. I brought my car to them to take fitment measurements and they had a one off custom built DS series adjustable made for me.
Installation was quick and painless, remove wheels, unbolt factory coilovers, slide them out and reverse the process with the new ones. See pics below. The DS series kit built for the X150 has a 2-3 week lead time and an MSRP of $1850 and can be purchased from authorized dealers, possibly for less. I do know a dealer here in the Tampa area that would be happy to work with members as well. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...868bfcf41.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...ce7f8bbad.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...8ffe69e1b.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...37cd5478b.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c2ba83108.jpeg |

Priced very nicely think Arden want close to 7k for their version .
Are you able to turn off the CATs option in the dealer software to eliminate the symbol popping up on the dash ? Also are you rotor two piece or is that simply a secondary cover on the hub just struggling to make out the pic on my phone ? All in your set up is fantastic !! |
Purdy. Did they recommend anything to keep the threads from seizing?
|
how much was your ride height lowered?
|
How do the spring rates compare to stock? Are these exclusively track-focused, or are they street friendly too?

There is no comparison in the ride quality these provide. The car is completely planted with no body roll, squat or dive. Keep in mind I've replaced the majority of the bushes with hard polyurethane and the car is still quiet and smooth. Steering response is crisp and sharp as is acceleration and braking force is much quicker at managing weight transfer. There is no harshness or vibration and the car just glides over the road. |
Being quite nose bias I found the spires springs fixed up a fair bit of the cats tendency to understeer having the lighter rotors , no doubt lighter rims and adjustable dampeners yours must be on a next level now !!
Love it !! |
Those are beautiful!

Nice upgrade!:-)

I've also neglected to mention the BC Racing coilovers provided a weight savings of 24lbs over stock. So far lighter brakes, lighter wheels (over 100 lbs savings there), lighter exhaust (200 cell cats & deleted back box) and removed spare & tools.

What tire sizes are you running these days? I'm curious to know if my car would have a batter balance of traction with a more square setup than the 245(f) 275(r) stock sizes it's fitted with currently.
|
I like traction so 265 in the front and 305 in the rear.
EDIT: not sure how a square setup will work as the front track width is narrower than the rear.

Jah
Which rims are you running your signature doesn't give much info? In my 2014 I am running: no back box = 80lb saving Wortex discs/rotors = 45lbs saving in unsprung weight Bilstein shocks and RS springs with a ride height approx 25mm lower than a standard XKR Me 160lbs = much lighter than your standard lardass Those coilovers do look mighty fine and worth flying over to come back with a set...what do they weigh? |
No back box 80lb ??? It wouldn't be more than 30-40

That's a decent saving if I wasn't running the 100cell cats I would definitely eliminate the rear muffler box
