OK, sorry for being repetitious, but what in the heck are Alcon brakes? How do I know if I have them? Are replacement brake pads generic in that respect? Can I get non-alcon brake replacement pads?
Thanks for your patience, I'm still dealing with the idea you have to remove both front wheels to change air filters!
@Jag First timer No, red calipers aren't exclusive to Alcons. Your 2011 doesn't have Alcons.
In the North American market, the Alcon Performance Brake Package was available only on 2008 and 2009 (4.2L) models. They were an expensive $5,000 option in 2009 because:
1. Calipers: painted red, both fronts and rears are cast with raised //R Logo, (not a sticker). Fronts are printed "6 piston". Rears are not printed and have 4 pistons.
2. Discs: 400mm front, 350mm rears with crescent-shaped grooves. The largest rotors ever fitted to a production Jaguar at that time.

Re-reading this caused me to go look at the wheel photo of the one I’m going to see/buy.
Managed to get a side-by-side of your pic above and the wheel.
Shape looks exactly the same. But no raised iR or it was painted over.
what’s everyone’s take here? Left post - Right my seller.
Since other side, the raised R would be behind the spoke of the wheel. The bad paint is covering the "6 PISTON" decal
Thank you gents.
So basically I’ll have to remove them and have someone strip off the paint and repaint them as well as the raised iR and get a 6 piston decal (2 piston for the rear?).
