Re-gluing dash leather on my 2008 XK
#2
Do you have a before photo? Mine is starting to get bad and I just wondered how bad it has to get before they are unlikely to be able to use the existing leather.
I took mine to a specialist before buying the car and they were suggesting to totally replace the leather so I got the cost knocked off the purchase price but I would prefer to reuse the original if possible.
Originally the passenger side was blown in one place but it wasn't too obvious. The drivers side has now gone as well and there is a lump so I am concerned that it has stretched so won't be reusable.

The other thing I'd offer is, depending on how the "comprehensive" part of your insurance works in your state... chip the windshield a little before you have the guy come out, and just have them replace the windshield on a comprehensive claim (windshield damage is covered under comp, not collision. In some states, like Massachusetts, there is no deductible for a chipped windshield claim.) You've got a 2008? That's a 12 year old windshield. Depending on how many highway miles you have, you'd be amazed how chipped up your windshield is already. You've just gotten used to it. A new windshield will make it feel like a new car.
