Default Anyone driven the XKR-S GT?

Saw this for sale and since only 25 were made, was just curious as to how they drive. Has anyone been behind the wheel of this animal? Considering they were originally $174K- a bargain.

It's highly unlikely that with only 74 miles on the odo that they will let anyone take it out for a test drive. You would be lucky if they even let you sit in it.

There are at least five GT's currently for sale in the USA as well.

You are probably right, unless I gave them a deposit, although I would rather pay that amount for an Ultimate XJ.

But the car would be great for carpooling kids to school. (NOT)

Interesting Carfax.
Sold in CA in 2014 with 40 miles.
Registered with 41 miles.
Put up for sale 2 yrs later with 42 miles.
Now it's in TX offered for sale with 74 miles.

What a shame that car has sat idle for 4 years. I wonder if it had it's oil changed!

Hopefully you have avoided their Service Dept. That, as a business entity has the worst quality control of any company i have ever dealt with and I have extensive background in corporate America. They are very sloppy in their work, have extreme arrogance, are complete liars, overcharge for non-quality work (if I am going to pay a high price then I expect a high-level of professionalism, and quality in their work) and assume everyone is a complete idiot about anything related to cars.

I would give my car away before I would allow them to work on it ever again.

Looked at one several months ago just west of Chicago. Low miles, high price, knew I wasn’t going to buy it, so I didn’t even ask about a test drive. But I did get to breath the air around it.

I BOUGHT my car there, but to use the Service Department would be a 2800 mile, four day round-trip. I've also never seen the sales staff, just spoke on the phone. My B-I-L lives very near there and he did the inspections/face-to-face stuff for me.

Wow, I had a great experience there. Sales staff were great. Service was good to me as well. Other than their parts are 2x the price the Jag dealer in Reno (and others),...

I will not go into a long list, which not one of the people on the forum that works on their own car or others would ever do. Just one example. Under extended warranty they had to fix the driver's side rear door actuator. When they did that they tore up the water shield (I had replaced the water shield earlier that year) I had and therefore had flooding every time it rained. They also did not screw in properly the outer door handle frame so that was just hanging out like a flag (they tried to claim it was that way before, but no note was on the intake form for the car referencing such)

I then had the passenger rear door actuator go out and before I went to have it fixed I called Jag USA. The regional rep was in touch and called the service manager and spoke to him about my dissatisfaction and how to avoid in the future. So when I took the car in to get the repair the regional rep was their, along with the dealership manager, the service manager, the idiot service advisor (salesman more than advisor) and the actual mechanic that was going t do the work all to talk about the door handle and especially the water shield. So problem solved??? Got the car back and took it home to wash the car as when they do their quick run-through wash- they leave spots all over a highly waxed car. After i wash, I look in the door well/frame and the carpet below and it is wet. So I have to take over the cover and sure enough they had not bother to press tightly the butyl rubber that holds the shield except at the top and water could pour through on the bottom. It took me about 10 minutes to do something correctly..

I could add instance of them leaving my undercarriage off and then trying to replace it later with a used X-Type one that does not really fit the S-Type. Or on the previous repairs they tore up the plastic pieces holding the door molding around the rear window and just left it hanging loose or tore up my Leaper and then tried to fixing it with glue and eventually it hung loose and I had to replace. They fixed the plastic lock on my gas door and never bothered to test it and it would not unlock to get gas without tearing it up.

Or the idiot sales advisor trying to tell me I should pay them $1600 for a brake job due to the "complex" procedure of resetting the parking brake!!!???

The service manager once offered a detail job to be nice and I said fine- despite the fact my car looks as close to new as it can be and then they left cleaning fluids on the upholstery and all the wood in the car, which caused me to do more work to bring it back to where i had it before.

Tom in Dallas/Plano

I think you get my drift, but very happy you did not run into this and had a good experience.

I already know who you use (ME), but he would be of no help to me. All the normal maintenance and other fixes beyond something that requires a lift I can do. I have talked to him many times and he is quite knowledgeable and he has the exact same opinion of the Park Place service and my particular service advisor (BL) that I do.

But thanks for the response and thought.

It seems to be what the owners of this model tend to do. There are six of them currently listed for sale on the USA autotrader website, with a combined total usage of only ~3,600 miles! That equates to ~150 miles driven per year for each vehicle. What a waste of a vehicle. As technology and design elements continue to improve these cars will be soon forgotten as relics of a past era.

The owners may have gambled on prices rising on a limited production model. Boy were they dumb.
Of course, in twenty years (if there is still such a thing as Gasoline) they may be a big thing.

Or, could be like the former owner of the one I went to look at. The dealer said the guy has a bunch of high end exotic cars, doesn’t drive them, just ‘has them’. When something more interesting comes along, he sells something to make space for the new toy, which he doesn’t even play with.
Guess that’s what you do when you have more money than you can actually spend.

I was just showing my wife and scrolling through the pictures on the park place site and one is a pic of the message center that says smart key battery low... Really? You are advertising a $140k used car and you put that pic up? I wonder if you can negotiate in a new smary key battery in the deal...
