Brake light failure message
 

2009 XK convert 46000 miles recently came up on dash up with BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE....... took it to local shop, they could not fix it, they say every time they put in a new bulb & fuse....the fuse BLOWS. They are at a loss as to how to proceed. Any help as to what might be the issue would be appreciated. Never had any electrical issue with this 09 till now.

They (local shop) are at a loss as to how to proceed? Wow, that's basic electrics troubleshooting. Maybe you should first find a different shop.

Clearly there is either an unexpected load somewhere in the circuit (unlikely) or there is a short-to-ground somewhere.

Did they even put a meter (VOM) to it to check for current/continuity? That would be the first step.
