Default Buying 07 XKR, 35k mile, what should I know?

Any advice on what issues I should be aware of or look for?

I plan on buying an aftermarket comphrehensive warranty.

Thanks!

Not my model, but the aircon drain is supposed to be an issue with the 4.2 cars. It blocks, and you get water in the passenger footwell. There's a mod to fix it, but it's expensive to carry out. There are also tricks to keep it clear - just search the forum for "aircon".

Expect to change the air conditioner drain hose, make sure dash is tight near the windshield. Transmission pan cover can leak. Not into the extended warranty. You'll never recoup the cost, but if you sell the car and still have warranty left, it makes it easier.

If it is a convertible, also make sure the rear window glass is not separating from the fabric.

1st you will fall in love with how nice it drives, so soiid and comfortable.
If you can find out who the original dealer was they may have changed the air conditioning evaporator hose under warranty, if not Jaguar USA paid 25% of my cost to put a new one in. IF the hose closes the water backs up and goes through the fan on the passengers feet. I have had no other real issues.
You may want to read the thread on Batterys. These cats get spooky it the battery is not fully charged, minor things like the electronics coming on very slow. My biggest problem is I bought mine in the fall and it is in the garage for the winter.

In San Antonio you will need to beware of heat damage to the dashboard leather and keep it well protected. Some have had a shrinking/curling experience. Also you will need to prepare polite responses for the onslaught of compliments you are about to receive everywhere you drive it.

Car Craft folding sun shade fits like a glove and stores easily in the back seat.

Had our '07 XKR convertible for 2 years now. Got Jaguar extended warrantee and did not even need it! Car is fun to drive, great to look at and so far, quite reliable. Good Luck!

Expect a multitude of weird electrical gremlins unless you drive it every day or keep it on a battery tender. Other than that, fantastic car. Not many cars make you feel like a million bucks when you drive it. And it's a whole lot cheaper than a million bucks!

Default Thank you all! LOVE THIS CAR! Minor issues abound.

This advice has been extremely helpful in knowing what to look for. I love the car!

Already have the A/C drain issue, but because of the advice was able to minimize damage and prevent water from dripping. I am in negotiations now with the dealer/Jaguar to get this fixed. Read one thread about a home remedy for this...close all vents, put fan on high, water should drain out the bottom hose...but this did do anything for me. I did not see any water draining under the car. Did I do this wrong?

I have noticed that the mid-range speaker is out on the passenger door (Alpine premium system) so I am trying to figure out how to remove the door panel without damaging it to fix/test/replace the speaker.

Hmmm, you need to close all vents, put fan on high, fresh air (not recirculate) and turn it on the face vents only. Hopefully that does the trick, although it won't always work. I hope my '07 doesn't develop this problem!

From the workshop manual:

My guess is that those 16 clips are fragile, so be careful! When you put it back, torque the bolts to 10Nm.
