Default Can we talk about seat wear

I don't have any visible wear yet but based on the way I get in and out of the car I suspect in time the bolster will wear. Has anyone started to see this and is it reduced if you do a leather treatment once a month. Having the charcoal interior I would think it would show at some point in time. I only have 8K miles on the car but just wanted to see if this leather wears better then some of my other cars.

Yes, mine (charcoal) is worn along the seam of the bolster. It had fairly high mileage when I got it (about 25000 miles in under 3 years) and it was like that. Essentially the dye/outer coating is abraded off. It isn't all that noticeable (maybe 3 inches), but it isn't perfect. My first XF (ivory leather) wore along the seam in the bottom centre of the seat, probably from my belt rubbing it.

You may be able to repair/restore the worn leather surface yourself.

See this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-camel-102779/

Here's the link to the Dynamix product recommended by WhiteXKR in the above thread: JAGUAR LEATHER DYES

A small area of the left side of my driver's seat bolster is beginning to show some wear, so I thought I'd touch it up. I just ordered the 30ml bottle and will let you know how it works.

Jagtoes,
Mine in the same color had some wear in the same area. Last week, I simply took some liquid black shoe polish (as I do about every 6 months in my 2002XKR convertible), spread it around the area and then wiped off with a clean towel. Virtually invisible now.

That's an old trick, but still useful today. I have very minimal wear on the outer bolster on the driver's seat. Not enough to deter from the car, but you can see a difference between driver and passenger in that regard. I do leather treatment monthly. Bigger culprit on my interior is jeans dye transfer and around the doors the leather is easy to nick. Over all, my interior still looks amazing. I use a custom fitted sun screen whenever the car will be parked outside for more than an hour.

Whomever ends up with my car is going to very lucky. I put 100+ hours a year into washing and detailing.

Just buy the proper dye from Leatherique and do it right. Very easy.

Didn't realize Leatherique made dyes as well, thats definitely the way I would go.

I can recommend the Dynamix product - more like a thin plastic paint than a dye. I used it to restore the driver's seat on my XK8 before I sold it; the side bolster was very worn, but the paint brought it back to almost the original finish. It was slightly more matt, but I think I could have made it a bit shinier with an appropriate polish.
