UPDATE: As the originator of this post, here is my most recent feedback after slightly less than 1,000 miles of driving. To repeat, I have centric posi quiet ceramics on the front with Akebono Euros on the rear. They did not have Akebonos for both the fronts and rears. Dust is almost non existent, but I do clean my car regularly. Any dust is a light brown and hard to notice. Braking is great, and I cannot really notice much of a difference in stopping if any. Again, I am a conservative driver and do not track the car. Another plus is the elimination of that "brake creaking" I got from the OEM pads at slow speeds when coming to a stop. If I have to nitpick at all, when I have the radio off and listen hard, I can on occasions hear a faint noise coming from the rear on rotation. Sometimes it's there and other times it's not. I did have the rear brakes checked and everything looked good. Orginally, Jaguar offered to replace the OEM pads for me, but said they would not warranty against any sqeaks, sqeals, or any kind of noise. I declined because they wanted $300. The noise I'm referring to is probably virtually undetectable other than I'm an absolute nut and hear and see things that no one else does! My wheels look like brand new including the barrels behind the spokes which I was able to get sparkling clean with the right tools from Autogeek. For me the ceramics are the only way to go. I'm very happy with them.

I understand there are multi- grades of the EBC line.
Why would one not start with the first level/grade to learn the effects on their type and style of driving?
If it were my choice, I would not be running EBC at all. I've use Red Stuff pads in the past and concluded they were garbage for my style of driving, and promptly traded them out for Hawk HP Plus, which were leaps ahead of EBC. Now that I have a Jag, I find Hawk does not make anything for our cars.

Trying to avoid EBC initially, I had a custom set of Porterfield R-4S made. Sadly, I let them talk me down from their awesome R-4 compound I used in past cars to the Street compound and regretted the decision because of the consistent squeel.
Bought the Yellow Stuff as a fast replacement while I figure out where to go from here..... Most likely back to Porterfield for the R-4....
As mentioned, I care about braking power and performance, not dust or wear. Starting with Ceramics is actually a step backwards in friction coficeant over most OEM pads, and owners buy them for cleaner rims rather than better braking power. That is never the right direction in my book

2 cents

I have installed EBC Red Stuff all around in my 5.0 XKR. Still not quite done with bedding process, but at this point stopping performance is superior to stock in feel and distance. Dust way down. Will report more fully when bedding done...

"If I have to nitpick at all, when I have the radio off and listen hard, I can on occasions hear a faint noise coming from the rear on rotation."

I completely concur with your nitpick. I put Akebonos all round plus new rotors on tne rear and besides the same slight drone - actually more of a hum under certain braking/speed conditions they are hands down better than the OEM pads. My simple explanation is the slightly harder compound of the ceramics. I thought it may have been because of the none OEM rotor but your experience confirms my experience as well. I certainly have no regrets going ceramic.

My symptom is somewhat different. Each time the rear wheels make a full rotation at one spot it rubs against something (possibly a high spot or irregularity on one of the pads or rotors). It speeds up the faster I go and goes away when I depress slightly on the brakes. Sometimes it's not there at all. Regardless, it's useless to try and find as there is no guarantee that it will be permanently corrected even if replaced with different pads. The tradeoff on the dust is a no brainer. How many car owners of many European cars have to live with the horrendous squealing of their OEM semi metallic pads?

I felt the excessive dusting was over the top for me with my 20 spoke 19" wheels needing cleaning almost every day. As previously noted on different threads, Akebono does not make front pads for my car, only rears.

I went with Centric Posi Quiet Ceramics on the fronts (105.12400) and Akebono EUR1095 on the rears. Please note, that I had the install today, so this is an initial review.

As mentioned, the main purpose was to reduce brake dust and I was anticipating (from some previous reviews) a spongy brake feel with some loss in stopping ability. To the contrary, I am extremely pleased with how well the car stops.

The brake feel is actually somewhat more linear without that sometimes annoying unintentional grabbing. Of course there is NO MORE CREAKING which is another plus.

I've only driven maybe 15-20 miles, so I cannot report on brake dust, however my original pads would have my wheels nicely coated by now which I don't see. For all those thinking about the change, go for it as it makes driving the car that much more enjoyable without the extra wheel maintenance.

Of course I am talking about members who do not take their car to the track. I will report back as I put more miles on the car.
I just had the Centric Posi Quiet Ceramics on the fronts (105.12400)brake pads along with Centric rotors done. Good stopping power, no noise, looks good, no dust, fairly inexpensive from rockauto.com. Recommend
