Changed Trany & Diff Fluid
 

Even though the dealer says the fluids in the trany and dif. are lifetime it just doesn't sit right with me. They may be right but for my piece of mind I had it changed. It was very expensive even at an Indy shop (They have a good rep and work on Rolls, Bentley, Rover, Jaguar, and other high end cars.) I asked for pictures of the trany fluid and filter pan. To tell you the truth it wasn't bad and had never been done. There was very little clutch debris and the fluid was still green after 77,000 miles. So after having it done it seems to run smoother. It's probably just in my head but I feel better about it.

I completely agree with you. Change tranny fluid every 60k miles. Preventive maintenance ! I still have like 45k miles to go. If you don’t mind me asking what did they charge you? Thx

The local indy trans shop here in Greenville, SC quoted me $750 for the job for my 2010 XKR vert. It's next on my maintenance list.

The total cost for the trany and differential was $948.51. Labor- $452 Parts- $462 HasMat- $4.90 Tax- $28.91
It was a lot but when I bought this car I knew maintenance would be expensive.

Damnation, my total cost for the Transmission was $346, the rear diff was about $160 if I remember correctly.

Green?? Isn't it supposed to be amber/clear?

Next time you need some maintenance or repairs, PM me, I'm in your area and charge substantially less than the shop! =]

I just understood him saying green as in fresh. I figured he knows what he is doing if knows to look for clutch debris.

I was surprised that the picture showed a yellow green. Now that I think of it the reason it had a green tint was because of the flash used in the camera. I just looked at the pictures again. The shop took a picture of the fluid in the pan. There was a date stamp in the bottom of the pan dated dated June 28 2010 so it was the original fluid. I think you are correct in that the fluid is amber/clear.
