Climate Fan/Blower not Working
 

I have a 2007 XK Coupe. This weekend the passenger side drain backed up and we got water in the footwell as documented in other posts. This morning when I started the car the blower fan failed to work. I'm not sure if there are two blowers, one for each side, or not - but in any case, nothing happened on either side of the car. I tried defrost, heat & ac, and changing the fan speed but nothing worked. I removed the left side blower fan assembly and did the following testing:

1) Checked the fuses and they were fine
2) checked voltage at plug that connects to the motor - meter read 11 volts
3) plugged power leads back into the motor and turned on the climate system - the fan activated, rotated a few revolutions, then stopped. This was accompanied by what sounded like a relay closing then opening.
4) hooked the fan up to a battery charger and the fan ran fine.

What do I need to replace to get the blower working?

I have read the posts on the left side ac drain hose and know that I also need to fix that problem.

I'm not at all familiar with system and have not ever worked on it, so this is just general info in hope it helps. Others more qualified might have better words for you.

4 components to blower control system that I can see from a quick glance at my data.

1.) Blower motor (image item 5)
2.) Blower Motor Control Module (4)
3.) Temperature Control Module (1)
4.) Blower relay (locate in back seat fuse panel)


You've already tested the motor... Both control modules (4 and 1) are in the same area as the motor. is it possible they were exposed to water?

For electronics in general, relays are known for failure, so you might check it out... Listen for it to click when actuated...

Are the components on the right side of the car the same as on the left?

There's only one. Always on the opposite side of the steering wheel.
