Default Convertible Top

First, what replacement top do you recommend. Some are about $1K, Robbin’s is $2K. Also, is there any videos or instructions for DYI. Thanks!!

Here's my experience. It's everything you need to know. Sure, less expensive tops are on eBay, and I bought and returned two of them. But you get what you pay for and I'm very pleased with the top I bought from OEM + Auto Tops. The fabric looks exactly like the factory and the fit is perfect.

My top was replaced with an Aston Martin convertible top. It is nearly identical except that the rear window pane is constructed properly so that it will never come off of the canvas top. Also, I have noticed it is quieter when the top is closed. I highly recommend it. I do not have any other details as the previous owner had it replaced.

Are there any markings on the rear glass you could photograph?

Please attach photos of that top. What year and model Aston Volante? Vantage? DB7? DB9? I'm pretty sure that it's not an Aston Martin top because the AM window shapes are not the same as the X150 Jag.

Default New Convertible Top

The previous owner left me no record of this new top on the 2010 XKR so I have no way to verify that this is an Aston Martin top. However, I can confirm this is not the original top used on 2010 XKR models. My previous 2010 XKR rear window did separate and I did a DIY repair. This window seal is quite different but in all other aspects it looks like the original. Perhaps, this top was simply used on later model XK convertibles? I tried to photo the numericals on the window but I was not able to identify any clues as to the brand.

Sadly your camera focused on the reflection and not the information on the glass. It certainly is not OEM, that's for sure.

Attached is a procedure and information based on my experience.
I tried to highlight those areas that have a higher degree of difficultly and/or problematic based on my experience.
It is at least a 2 day process and 2 people to do.
Do a search of my post to see my experience and pictures.

Good luck

Jaguar used the same convertible top (in various colors) for all X150 models, with a heat sealed rear glass window with defroster wires and no rubber gasket. Your top has a sewn-in rubber gasket. A similar custom made top is currently available HERE, on ETSY.

IMO, it ruins the look of the X150.
