could be good bye
Hi chaps . winter is a bummer as you are well aware , the xkr is in hibernation till spring so been using the works van to get about , its boring no heated seats nor wheel . So i have been looking about to replace the jag , merc s class has caught my eye
Winter might be making your head soggy.
You are going to go from a car you can have forever to a car you can only not look stupid in for a couple of years.
Then there is the reliability and being associated with the other tossers.
Male menopause?
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Q&C i know i know but the jag is nearly 9 years old and i have spent a small fortune over the years on her . yes it would be sad to see her go after 5 years ownership . her indoors likes the new look merc . yet to make up my mind . mind you but its a newer car petrol / elec job hybrid .
Early days , looked at audi bmw and xj first 2 dont float my boat xj ? they are full of problems as seen on here . i know most cars have them in some way and jaguar crc are a pig to deal with so of -putting

I can't decide which one I enjoy more, my XJ or my XKR. Both are drop-dead gorgeous and drive great. The XKR delivers what is expected from its looks, but the XJ delivers more than its looks suggest. I'm amazed by my XJ's Jekyll and Hyde personality; it's Beauty that becomes the Beast simply by mashing the exhilarator pedal. Compared to my 4.2L XKR, my 5.0L SC XJ feels quicker (470 hp/8-speed vs. 420 hp/6-speed) and handles just as well in Dynamic mode. If the XJ was available as a convertible the XKR would be superfluous.
Look for low mileage 2013-up 5.0L SC XJ models because they have the 8-speed transmission and Meridian Surround Sound System. Later years have more and improved features. They're bargains on today's used car market because most buyers want an SUV.
Wait a couple years and you can get an AWD F-Type for a good price.
Tell her to buy one then...with her own hard earned cash
I think this is a common case of being 'cat flogged' or similar words?
Why overwintering, I'm in London most weeks and it's not been cold, probs only a couple of mornings where it's dropped close to zero, currently 9c
I was tempted by the XJ, only thing that dissuaded me was the lack of AWD here in the UK (made for Chinese markets in the UK though) so held on to my A6
I'll hold onto mine as long as possible, although just learnt that Ex from 10yrs ago has applied for half my pension, so may well be selling next year to pay her off

Luxury saloons are as obsolete as rotary phones or single purpose phones. For good reason.
If you are going to suffer something big, especially for the sake of luxury and rear passengers, it makes no sense on multiple levels to sit so close to the ground, have a truncated luggage compartment, and not have the ability to go anywhere with it.
To top it all, if your concern is winter driving, why would you get another car, nearly identical only longer.
A Land Rover or Range Rover is the modern touring saloon, and can be used as a work vehicle.
Good-bye is never for never when you've owned a Jag. I said good-bye once when I sold by 2013 in 2015 after a 2 year ownership. I sold it because I just had too many cars at the time. Since 2015 I searched for a replacement after selling a 2013 MB SLK 55, 2014 Nissan GT-R and my 2013 XKR. I wanted a convertible XKR, black, with dynamic pack, and performance exhaust with low mileage in excellent condition at a good price. It took 4 years in Canada to find the car. Now I'm doing preventative 6 year maintenance on it with 14K miles by changing the ediff fluid, transmission fluid, cooling fluid, engine oil (of course), and brake fluid flush. I'll leave the super charger fluid and power steering fluid for another day. All-in-all I'm happy to be in another XKR.
A change of plan , seen a couple of cars today first a merc s-class , i didnt like it . Next was a xj from a non approved dealer , looked good but was missing a service from june this year . That put me off . have now decided any potential car buying /selling can wait till spring . sorry no Rolls royce or Bentleys i am a mere plumber . Mark m uk . i chose to keep the xkr of road for the winter dont like salted roads , yes weather was fine in london today temps were 12c but cold weather is creeping in , so ther you have it lads you got me for a while yet
