Cruise not available

I have a 2010 XKR 5.0S/C with adaptive cruise control, it have worked perfect until last week where i got the message " CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE " 5 sek after start )-: I talked to a local jaguar tech, he said i would probably be a bad connections or broken wire.. Just checked the wirering in the front by the radar, the radar and connections, everything looks fine.. My instruction manual says the fuse for the acc should be nr 6 in the engine fusebox, but nr 6 is not in use. Any suggestions where to find the error ? |
It could be the brake pedal switch. If the switch isn't working it prevents the cruise control from working. It was a common problem on the x100's.

5 seconds after start up? Check the battery voltage with engine off. It battery is good, try a hard reset and see if it comes back.

The write up below was done by a Jaguar technician. It should enable you to do a hard reset:
" ... DO A HARD REBOOT YOU HAVE TO DISCHARGE THE CAPACITORS IN THE ECU(ALL ECUS) AND TO CORRECTLY DISCHARGE A CAPACITOR WHICH IS NOTHING MORE THAN A BATTERY YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT A PATH TO GROUND. TO DO THAT DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL FROM THE BATTERY AND MOMENTARILY TOUCH IT TO THE STILL CONNECTED POSITIVE, THIS GIVES ALL THE CAPACITORS A PATH TO GROUND AND WITH ERASES ALL VOLATILE MEMORY.(CK ENGINE LIGHT CODES ARE STORED IN NONVOLATILE SO THEY NO LONGER ERASE THIS WAY)SOMEBODY(JIM?) STICKY THIS SO IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE RETYPED ALL THE TIME(2ND TIME TODAY) AND YES LIKE FACTOTECH SAID, RESET, WINDOWS, CLOCK, SUNROOF, RADIO(MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CODE FIRST IF YOU HAVE AN ANTITHEFT UNIT) AND YOUR DONE. TO RESET CODES AND NOT GO TO THE DEALER, GO TO NEIGHBORHOOD AUTOPARTS STORE, MOST HAVE GENERIC SCANNERS THAT CAN TAKE CARE OF ALOT OF CODES THAT COMEUP, JUST WRITE EM DONE SO IF THEY RETURN YOU KNOW THE CAR IS CONTINUING TO SEE THE SAME PROBLEM" |
Jacobson,
Save yourself the trouble with the hard reset, I've had that warning ever since I added a tune to my car 5 years ago, and I've had hard resets for other issues, and it has not affected the fact that I still get the warning. I've never used the option nor the regular cruise control either so I wouldn't know if it works nor do I care. Although if you find a solution, I will certainly try it so I don't have to look at that warning every time I start up the car. |
Does the car have paint protection film on the front area of the car? After adding protective film, I have occasionally gotten this message, particularly when the front is covered in bugs on a long summer road trip.
