Question CTEK Installation

So I finally got around to picking up a CTEK MU 4.3 and am preparing to install the pigtail. I've read the other threads for the 3300 and see that the factory recommended installation for the Jaguar-branded charger is with the positive to the battery terminal and negative to a nearby bracket, but my lazy side wants to just hook up to the remote terminals used for jumpstarting. Is there anything really detrimental to hooking up that way? I don't think I saw a definitive answer to this in any of the other threads.

Simon - You can hook it up to the terminals in the boot and the spare tire compartment. On the other hand if you are making a permanent installation as most of us have done. IMO I would hook it up as described by the CTek people. You can then keep cord out of the boot and let it come out near the lid as described.

For permanent installation, if you have a later model xk (i believe 2012 or newer) its advisable to connect the negative to ground not to the -ve battery post. I have read that it will have a detrimental affect to the battery monitor.

Correct. Positive to either the jump start terminal or directory to the positive battery post and the negative to a chassis ground point, not the battery terminal, per jaguar tech doc which I can't find at the moment...

I have my quick connect on the remote positive terminal and the negative screwed into the light assembly screw as it is a chassis negative.

I have a pigtail connected to the remote positive terminal and a chassis bolt in the wheel well. I just plug it in when I need it. It's worked fine for the past 5 years I've had it.
