Curious what this led light under the Dash is for?

It sits next to the Obd connector? It is some kind of connector with the led on it. Ignition is off, just opened the door and happened to see it as the car is up on the lift. :-) |
It just illuminates the footwell for better visibility when entering the vehicle in the dark. There should be another one on the passenger-side footwell too.

Pretty sure OP is referring to the small red led, no?

Isn't yours an early car without the door handle rubber lock release buttons? On my later production there is a fuzzy black vanity panel that covers The bottom of the dash on both sides. Mine is still off from troubleshooting my air bag problem and I do not remember an LED there. Possibly / probably it's aftermarket for 'something'. I guess you'll need to get up in there with it an take some better pics.

It's the diagnostic connector for the MOST fibre optic network, from the infotainment system.
The dealers have a test tool which plugs into the network there. Don't unplug it! EDIT And yes you seem to be missing the fabric trim panel that covers it up normally. |
