Difference between Celestial and Midnight Black

Can anyone tell me what the perceived difference is between Celestial Black and Midnight Black?

According to the Jaguar advertising copy writers who have to get themselves excited about such things, Celestial Black (exclusive to the XK Portfolio Pack) is a more prominent 'bluish' metallic black than Midnight Black.

Celestial Black was unique to the XKR Portfolio in 2008. It is black with a blue fleck in it. If you look at the car in the right light it looks dark blue.

Thanks guys. So midnight has some blue metallic specs mixed in but not as much as celestial? How about Ultimate Black?

Ultimate Black has 5% more metallic content than Midnight Black so it has a more goldish than blue hue.

How about including Ultimate Black and also Ebony.

Ebony is non-metallic

My Midnight Black 12 vert has enough metallic flakes in it to make it look like a very dark blue in some lighting.

I consider my Midnight Black as a very dark blue shade and not black at all.... though at night you can't tell it's blue.

I believe that's what's referred to as "Black with blue reflect" - i.e. the base colour is black, but the flakes reflect blue. So you get black with blue highlights; tasty!

Unfortunately, I didn't get a choice with mine, because they only come in Stratus Grey - which, like yours, looks black under night lighting. But I'd have preferred black…
