Disable proximity unlock?

Is it possible to disable the proximity unlock feature? I couldn't find a setting in the menus. Also while I'm at it... is the remote window feature supposed to work on US cars? I tried but can't get them to roll down from the key fob.

Thanks - Sean

On my 2012 XK, the windows can be set to open with FOB by going to the menu as follows, it works fine on my US car but perhaps it is an addition to the 2012 firmware?

VEHICLE -> SECURITY -> click the Page Down arrow in middle of screen twice, then click on the GLOBAL WINDOWS OPEN/CLOSE.

The other feature I am not familiar with, the doors unlock when you are close, not when you touch the handle? I have not seen that setting but I am new...

This makes sense... so it doesn't check for the key until the handle is pulled. I was worried about battery draining / car unlocking if I walk past the car with the key. I'll need to play around with it a bit. I'll have to check my screen to see if I have the window setting... it's the older head unit in the 2011.

Thanks for the help.

What tampamark said, the Unlock will only work if the door handle is pulled while the Smart Key (not a FOB) is within a couple feet. Some people think that the electronics stay 'alive' when the Smart Key is within RF range and thus drain the car's battery, but that doesn't make any sense because the transponder is WAY out of range. Sort of like those Key Cards for secured doors, they have to be very close to work.
My 2010 has the Global Open/Close, you your 2011 should be fine. In fact, I think ALL the X150s have it.

Good to know, it is easy to miss the little arrow that shows there are more pages in the screen. The global setting is the last page

Thanks

Found the menu settings, including the mirror fold which I was happy to find.

100% confirm: the RF transmitters on the locking system don't wake up and 'ping' the key until you yoink the handle. It may feel instantaneous, but the system is powered down until the handle moves, then the authentication handshake only takes a few milliseconds before the lock is released.

If your battery isn't carrying a full charge there may be a delay in the unlock process. Somewhere between .5 and 1 second.

That's probably because it takes the security module longer to power up. It's the same problem that you get all over the car when the battery is sub-par, which leads to things not starting up in the right sequence or not getting the correct handshakes, then the warning lights come on...

Someday there'll be a plug-compatible lithium-polymer (or some other) battery that we can drop in which will have massive reserves and all of this low-power cack will go away.
