Default DRL ?

SDD has three options for DRL daytime running lights. Canadian, Polish and Scandinavian. So does anyone know if there is a difference between the three?

Canadian eh?

I don't know what the Polish one is but the difference between Canadian & Scandinavian relates to when the lights come on, all the time or only when the car is in gear.

From the workshop manual:

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) - Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Description and Operation

INTRODUCTION
Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) use the full intensity low beam headlamps which are permanently illuminated when the vehicle is being driven. DRL are used in a number of markets and there are two systems to cover these markets.
For additional information, refer to: Exterior Lighting (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Description and Operation).

DRL CANADIAN MARKET
DRL for this market use full intensity low beam headlamps. The side marker lamps, tail lamps and license plate lamps will be on, but instrument cluster illumination will be off. DRL are active when the following parameters are met:
 PARK is not selected on automatic transmission selector lever  Power mode 6 (ignition on) detected by the auxiliary junction box  The Central Junction Box (CJB) receives an engine running signal  The lighting control switch is in the off or side lamps position.
NOTE: If the lighting control switch is moved to the headlamp position, DRL are deactivated and normal side lamp and headlamp functionality is operational.
NOTE: Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) (where fitted) is non-functional when the DRL are active.
NOTE: When DRL are active, the headlamp flash function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will operate normally.
The high beam headlamp function using the left hand steering column stalk switch will be deactivated. When the selector lever is in the PARK position on automatic transmission vehicles, DRL are turned off. This is to reduce battery discharge during long periods of engine idling in cold climate conditions. When the selector lever is moved from the PARK position, normal DRL functionality is restored.

DRL DENMARK, HOLLAND, NORWAY, SWEDEN, FINLAND AND POLAND
DRL for these markets use full intensity low beam headlamps. Side lamps and license plate lamps will be on, but instrument cluster illumination will be off. DRL are active when the following parameters are met:
 Power mode 6 (ignition on) detected by the auxiliary junction box  The CJB receives an engine running signal  The lighting control switch is in the off position.
NOTE: When DRL are active, the headlamp flash function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will operate normally. The high beam headlamp function using the left hand steering column stalk switch will be deactivated.
If the lighting control switch is moved to the side lamp or headlamp positions, DRL are deactivated and normal side lamp and headlamp functionality is operational.
The DRL (daytime running lamps) and side lamps are incorporated into the outer part of the headlamp assemblies. For additional information, refer to: Exterior Lighting (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Description and Operation).
The same LED (light emitting diodes) are used for the two lamp functions, but they illuminate with a higher intensity for DRL operation than for side lamp operation. On Japan vehicles, the DRL function is inoperative.

How are you planning to turn the desired mode on (dealer, Mongoose SDD?)?

Best,
Wrair

Yes I am using SDD along with an approved DA Dongle. I chose the Canadian version and it works as described. Everything I have read says the other two options turn lights on at engine start, so not sure why there would be a need for two options. I may have to try the other two options just to confirm how they work.

Poles rarely use their lights but Swedes use theirs all the time.

I'n surprised you needed to ask the question. Have you never seen a Volvo in the last thirty years?

I was poking around in SDD but could not find any options for DRL in the CCF or other functions. Where are these options?

Change "North American Specification" to something else, like Canada or Australia or some such thing.

Default Revisit XK XKR DRL Daytime Running Lights

A quick forum search did not show XK daytime running lights (missed it).
Wanted to know the finer points of the DRL options in CCF.
So, I dug out the service manual to find the relevent info, only to fifind this thread prior to posting the results.
Nice job folks! With apologies to wrair, I'll add the actual page from the service manual and bump the thread.
